Billetron Introduction by Jubal Brown:

You asked, and we listened.

The Billetron 38 puts proven technology into an all-new package.

The Billetron 38 is a designed-from-the-ground-up replacement for the 38 H-Series carburetors in two stroke applications. Still made in the USA, it is machined from 6061 aluminum on state of the art equipment before being sent to our location in Texas for final assembly.

Some major updates include: Metric hardware, OEM throttle cable use in most applications, a bowl drain, left side choke, and a new bore for harder hit and more torque right off idle.

Lectron's goal with the Billetron was to build the best rider's carb. Throughout the R&D process, we have been continually polling our prospective customers, first time users, and repeat customers to find out what is important to them. With extensive testing in-house, on the dyno, and with a huge pool of test riders across all disciplines, we think we nailed it.

Why Upgrade?

For over 45 years, Lectron has been known for simplicity and performance. The Billetron has taken to the next level. Like the H-Series, it features a similar 4mm bore taper, but with a new geometry and a more aggressive bell. This, combined with the new H-Style billet slide, channels air around the metering rod for faster response, more torque at low throttle, and a much harder hit - similar to a well tuned jetted carburetor. The power is still predictable and usuable, making for the best of both worlds.

The Billetron uses new metering rods that are adjustable in 1/8th turn increments. It has been moved away from the engine which creates a much more consistent return to idle and increases throttle response. The idle screw has a much finer resolution for more precise tuning. The high throttle circuit - the power jet - now uses a larger, horizontal screw that can be adjusted with your fingers. The power jet line has been relocated from the bottom of the float bowl to the body of the carburetor for faster reponse and better fit on most applications. The new, left side choke seals better and is much more accessible.

The carburetor has been shortened to a 78mm overall length with 90mm long body options available. This provides a better fit and does not require shorter intake flanges or boots. The Billetron 38 is shorter in height as well, and uses the OEM throttle cables on most applications.

The float bowl is made out of a new material that is transparent and more durable. Inside the bowl is a new float system with a sprung and clipped 3.8mm needle seat valve. The needle seat valve has high flow ports for gravity feed applications and can also be used with a low pressure fuel pump. The bowl is now equipped with a drain for easier long term storage.

The bowl has larger, relocated vents for better consistency at steeper angles, and they feed through four ventlines (vs. three on the H-Series). The lines are routed to prevent fuel spillage when the bike lays on the ground.

How much is it and which one do I need?

The Billetron 38 comes in two options: Standard and long body. Each has base tunes for the 125-200cc range as well as the 250-300cc range. The standard length is 78mm and costs $599 - part number 1138-SMS. The long body has a bell adapter for a 90mm overall length and costs $619 - part number 1138-SML. The long body option is mainly for pre-2003 CR 250s and other bikes that came equipped with longer carburetors from the factory. If you are not sure which you need, use the Year, Make and Model search to locate the proper carburetor for your dirtbike. You can always purchase a longer bell adapter later if necessary.
